Winter Wear Real Deal Jeans
The Real Deal Jeans
Jeans are not really a complicated sew (aside from the zip fly, and even that isn’t really hard once you get the feel of it- pinky swear). To get a good looking pair of jeans, it is all in the fit and details. You will want to buy jean thread – just trust me and buy it – get two spools or three or a dozen cause you are soon going to be in love. Jean thread is stronger than normal thread, it also has some stretch which means you are not going to be popping any seams in these semi-fitted jeans.
Top stitching – top stitching is SOOOOOO important to giving jeans an authentic look. We will be top stitching everything – I’m not kidding! The ideal fit of these jeans is to have an average rise that is fitted through the rear and thigh, and goes straight down from the knee. These shouldn’t feel as tight as skinnies – they aren’t that kind of jean.
This is more of a Classic straight leg jean – once you have your basic fit down, this is the easiest fit of jean to modify for skinnies or boot leg to get even more use out of the pattern.
